BLOODY MARY COCKTAIL WITH BACON INFUSED VODKA

We served this little beauty as an aperitif on Pork Day (May 27th) It got mixed reviews. Unusually it was me that didn’t really enjoy it, none left mind, but Sheila I suspect could have gone for another.

Ingredients:

For Each Serving:

Ice cubes

2 ounces Bacon Infused Vodka.

4 ounces Bacon Bloody Mary Mix

Bloody Mary Mix Recipe:

This is a spicy Bloody Mary Mix.  Adjust the ingredients according to your tastes.

Ingredients:

Bacon Infused Vodka, see recipe below

3 cups (24 ounces) tomato juice

1 medium-size lemon, juiced

2 medium-size limes, juiced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon horseradish

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon hot sauce (such as Tabasco)

1 teaspoon celery salt

3/4 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper

Preparation:

Place the above ingredients into a 1-quart container and whisk until well combined.Cover and refrigerate until well chilled, at least 2 hour or preferably overnight.  This mix will keep up to 24 hours.

Bacon Infused Vodka Recipe:

There really isn’t much work to make Bacon Infused Vodka.  All you do is add some slices of cooked bacon to some vodka and let marinate or infuse for a week.  What could be easier?  This vodka takes the classic Bloody Mary up a notch!

Ingredients:

1 (750) bottle of good-quality vodka

4 to 5 strips of bacon, crisp-cooked and drained The is not the exact amount of vodka used as the bacon takes up some of the volume.  Save the remaining vodka or another use, or drink it if you are so inclined.

Either fry or oven-bake your bacon strips..

Method for preparing the cocktail

When ready to serve, remove the chilled Bloody Mary Mix from the refrigerator and stir well.

Fill each cocktail glass halfway with ice cubes.

Pour 2 ounces of the Bacon Infused Vodka and 4 ounces of the Bloody Mary Mix into each serving glass.  Stir to combine.

Garnish each drink with a slice of crisp bacon, celery stalk or dill pickle spear, and either a pickled green tomato, spicy green bean.

Serve and enjoy!
